It seems like just yesterday that the season began but tonight will mark Game #41 the official half way point of the season. The season is half over and yet the Sabres still don't have an identity. The only real way to describe the Sabres season up until this point would be inconsistency. They hope that a healthy Tim Connolly can change that around for them.
The last time the Sabres and Rangers met was way back in October when the Sabres began the season by stringing together some wins. The Sabres won that game but I'm not sure how much that matters in this game.
The Rangers are still ahead of the Sabres in the standings but their season hasn't been without it's struggles as well. It's inevitable that teams will have good periods and bad periods and the Rangers have been no different. They are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games and will be looking to avenge their earlier loss to the Sabres.
Of course a visit by the Rangers means a visit by our old friend Chris Drury. There has been very little talk about Drury coming to Buffalo which makes me believe that we are past that now. I'm sure Bucky Gleason will love it if Chris Drury comes into town and lights up the Sabres so he can write an "I told you so" story this weekend but overall I would say it's a non-story.
Starting Goalies
The Sabres are facing Rangers backup Goalie Stephen Valiquette. This is an opportunity for the Sabres to get two points, they better not blow it. Keep in mind that Valiquette has really good stats this season but he is only 4-3-1.

Identity?
One word – been true for 12 years – Ruff.
Okay, not to say the team has an identity.
I can’t really say how big this game is. When was the last time we won 4 in a row? And tomorrow we’re in Detroit?
Okay – Timmy’s back. Rivet returned earlier this week. Rumor has it that Tallinder’s playing too. And I hear we’re playing their backup goalie.
The 10:00 mark will say alot.
Hey HO - where's the better half? LOL!
I’ve been ready for summer since November. Hockey’s about the only good thing about this time of year!
Lindy
He’s frigging over thinking again…why wouldn’t Hecht be on the wing?
D.O.

I have no idea.
I guess he’s trying to shake things up a bit?

I heard Lindy say he didn't want to upset the top three lines.
Not on a winning streak
Wow.
After 1.5 seasons without any Sabres except Versus I have them on two channels. Gotta love dish!
Way too many "O"s
Most of my family are Pittsburgh fans – my mom grew up there.
hehehee
just wanted to be sure.
Keeley was sick Saturday. DO felt sick last night and now Dallas has it.

He stayed at work all day and I came home with Little D. Then DO came home showered and left for Jamestown.

Good start IMHO
Been a while since I had a feel for this team. They aren’t playing too fancy and aren’t playing reactive either.
yeah
but they need to listen to Lindy. “get the puck deep and get to work”.

THe Rangers kinda scare me
Yeah – they cooled off from their hot start and they seem to always 2+ games in hand on the league. Still, this is a kind of game that the Sabres outshoot the other team 8-3 and are unlucky. Feels like – so far – it’s the other way around.
I thought that's one of the things Timmy was good at?
So put him there!!!

You know...
if a defense clear over the glass is a 2 minute game delay – the NHL has to declare that something.
They have to, like, get it on net
Ugly wins are good. Really!
it started with that 4th line
last thing i know was Vanek almost stealing the go ahead
big stop
we’re controlling alot more right now – but that was a great shift
i'm sticking with my prediction
Pommers scores tonite
