Sabres remain patient

It isn't a surprise that the Sabres have yet to make a splash in the free agent market, Darcy Regier is by far the most patient General Manager in the league.  It used to be his best asset but now it's starting to become a little bit more of a problem.  There are still plenty of free agents that have not signed yet, leaving plenty of options for the Sabres.  There is also the possibility of a trade to revamp the roster as well, they don't have to make a free agent splash to improve the team.

There are guys that I had pegged as possibilities for the Sabres that have signed already.  There are also many possibilities so don't worry too much.  A look at the list of targets I had looks like this...

Defense

Ron Hainsey- available

John Michael Liles- re-signed with Colorado Four-year, $16 million

Michal Roszival- Update: re-signed by Rangers four-year deal for $20 million

Mike Commodore-Update: signed with Columbus five-year, $18.75 million  (wow did I underestimate his value).

Jason Smith- available

Brooks Orpik- available

Rhettt Warrener- available

Goalies

Alex Auld-Update: signed by Ottawa, two-year deal for $1 million

John Grahame- available (rumored to Russia)

Stephen Valiquette- available

David Aebischer- available

Cristobal Huet- signed by Chicago Blackhawks (terms undisclosed)

Olaf Kolzig- signed one-year deal by Tampa Bay Lightning
