Sabres cling to playoff hopes
It will be at least two more days before the Buffalo Sabtres are officially eliminated from playoff contention. In what was one of the most boring hockey games ever, maybe even worse than pre-lockout, the Sabres managed to beat the Bruins 2-1 in overtime. I wish I had more to say about tonights game but it was uh...well... it was bad hockey. The Sabres were scared and tried not to make mistakes and the Boston Bruins were the Boston Bruins. I am definitely not a fan of Claude Julien and his style of hockey. I wish I could say that I would rather not make the playoffs than to play that style but I would be lying. It is the same style that the Sabres played when they went to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999.
I am glad that the Sabres extended hope for a couple of more days. It will make beating the Leafs a lot more fun when the game means something. It would have been nice to get the win in regulation though and move two points closer to the Bruins instead of one. There are three games left and it will take nothing short of six points for the Sabres to have a chance.
On another unrelated note, I will hosting a playoff hockey pool at this site and I will have more details in the upcoming days. It should be really fun and I will have prizes as well. This was our first season at SB Nation and we will use the off season to make the site even better for next season.

I am confident
that the sabres could win out the remaining games, however I am not sure I would like to see them make the playoffs as good as it would be for the team I think that ANY team that can't hold a 2 goal lead with 3 min left should not make the post season, that is what playoff hockey is all about (getting a lead and shutting down the other team) and if the sabres can't do it now how can we expect to do it in 2 weeks, I also think it will be a a good learning experience for them going from the ECF 2 years in a row to not making the playoffs...still if we can win out a couple more games 90pts is nothing to scoff about in the NHL...I am proud of what this team is doing and how they are doing it good things come in time and though the last two years Buf has had a special hockey team I think the upcoming years can be very special too we just need to trust in the system
