Preseason Game #3: Buffalo Sabres vs. Minnesota Wild
The Buffalo Sabres will be back in action tonight against the Minnesota Wild. One night after beating the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 in a shootout. The game will be played in Fargo, North Dakota and will be a homecoming for Drew Stafford who played for the North Dakota Fighting Sioux. It should be an exciting game for Stafford this evening but let's hope the team continues to work on improving for the regular season.
The Wild come into this game after beating the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night 5-4 in overtime. The Sabres are 1-1 in the preseason.

Welcome...
Tony! We are happy to have a Wild fan here to beat up all night. hahaha
Thibault...
is in the net. No work for Dennis yet, I am a little bit surprised they didn't get him in at all yet.
Go Sabres!
Hello again! I am excited for another Sabres preseason game. I purchased tickets today for this Saturday's game vs. Pittsburgh! Hopefully special teams will do well again tonight, or at least generate a good deal of opportunities.

Wild-Sabres
Josh Harding in the Nets for the Wild, Wild seem to want first round pick Colton Giles on the main roster, should be a great game.

This guy sounds rather shaky.

He's only a backup...
he'll be ok. If he does well for 15-20 games the Sabres will be golden

Backups...
Thibault seems to be doing OK tonight, but it is difficult to tell just by listening. Ha! I think he will have a somewhat small role on the team, but an important one. Better than Conklin, I suppose!

0-0...
End of one period. Is it just me or do the Sabres seem to be playing low scoring games thus far? The real lineup is not in so I'm not all that concern yet but I wish they would start putting the puck in the net.
Low Scores
You're right, D.O. It seems like the chances are in place, but only a few people have capitalized. Like you said, though, it's probably the fact that the real lineup has not been put together yet that has impacted the score sheet. It's quite a let-down to get excited with Jeanneret every few minutes, and only be rewarded once in a while! They do seem to be playing pretty well tonight, aside from some puck control and passing issues that were problematic last game. Or was that just my impression from WGR?

damn...
They seem to fall behind early in the second in every game as well.
Losing Early On
If I'm correct, the Sabres actually did better when they were scored against first last season. Or at least for the first part of the season. However, this current trend isn't as promising. Falling behind and not coming back strong poses a problem. Hopefully it's just due to the preseason.

Score!!!
On the power play! Another boost of confidence for the special teams unit, and a good sign for the season!

I'll be in and out from here on out...
because I host an internet radio show on www.tpsradio.net. It's Around the Boards and goes live at 10 pm EST
Good Luck!
Sounds like fun! I'll be around, living with these wonderful commercials on WGR. This third period should be interesting, though!

This Seems Familiar...
Sabres down by one, then they tie the score 1-1. Then the other team scores (like Minnesota right now) and then comes back. Will it happen again? I hope so!

Penalty After Penalty
Like Jeanneret just said, these constant penalties taken by the Sabres are killing them. There have been some chances so far. Time for some heroics!
Thibault is doing pretty well this period: Some nice saves, although that goal post is not a back-up goalie!

Good Last Effort, But Not Enough
Well, that last minute was beyond exciting! So many chances by everyone, and it sounded like Spacek kept the puck in the zone with some crazy efforts. It didn't pay off, though, as the Sabres fell 2-1. Disappointing to see so many chances not pay off, but it is good that there actually are some chances! And power play opportunities, too.
There's always next game, and I plan on stopping by to listen to the game! Thanks, D.O., and have a good night!
