Wonder what this is about
The NHL continues to insult our intelligence, the Sabres website tells us the league will make a major announcement. Get a load of this press release.
The National Hockey League will make a major announcement concerning a special event on Monday, September 17th at 2 p.m.
The press conference will be held at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Log on to Sabres.com on Monday for full coverage of the event.
That was pulled word for word from the Buffalo Sabres website...no lie. They are having the press conference at Ralph Wilson Stadium...I wonder what they are going to announce. I actually hope they throw everyone off and change the date from January 1st to February 16th. I'll have much more on this Monday but I still don't understand why they couldn't just announce it today.

The obvious reason....
PR. Being both an Apple fan and investor over the last 3 years I've come to learn how to handle "big" media announcements.
You need to send out invites - or an announcement to an announcement - about a week ahead of time. This gives the big media time enough to get someone there.
Remember, this isn't some local thing happening... not some tailgating event. This is the NHL making the announcement to people in at least two countries (and probably by the gametime o it) one or two other continents.
They sure COULD have announced it today. Or, well, a few weeks ago. But the timing of this announcement is more for people intending to watch it on TV, not those planning to be there (like me) in person January 1.
As for the idea that they'll do a 180 degree and make it February 16? Uh, no. I wish they did - better chance of the right kind of weather!

Yeah Dave...
I realize the reason they have to do it I just think it's dumb. The question I have is where will you be sitting? Are you spending $243 for the seasts under the over hang?
