Miller steals a point

Ryan Miller was outstanding in New Jersey helping Buffalo earn a point in a game they had no business winning.  The end result was not a win but a 2-1 shootout loss because of Miller.  Miller made one outstanding save after another including stopping Aaron Asham on a first period penalty shot.  Miller had 13 saves in the first period alone as the Sabres were out shot 13-2 in the first period.

The Sabres picked up their play in the second and actual started to take control.  Ales Kotalik scored the Sabres only goal in the second and put them ahead 1-0 after 40 minutes of play.  The Devils rebounded in the third tying the game at one and eventually won in a shootout.

It's possible that the Sabres are looking past these games in anticipation of the Winter Classic next Tuesday.  The bottom line is this team needs every point they can get and really need to start playing like they did prior to Christmas when they were really on a roll.  The will be back in action on Saturday at 7:30 PM against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Igloo.  It is the first game of a home and home that concludes with the Winter Classic.

Stay tuned for much more on the game Tuesday including some cool features with some Penguins bloggers.
